A Hitchin care home has launched an initiative to champion the incredible stories of some of its remarkable female residents, marking International Women's Day.
Foxholes Care Home wanted to shine a spotlight on its female residents worthy of having their stories told.
Una Bracey, 91, spent 20 years supporting elderly people in her community – buying, cooking and serving meals to people who couldn’t do it themselves.
Fellow resident, Shirley Dyble, aged 84, also dedicated her life to volunteering for her community, running a meals on wheels project for people in her area. She would often spend her days visiting local hospitals to regularly provide help and support to those most in need.
Another remarkable story is that of former artist, Jac-Dixon Payne, 96, who dedicated much of her life to voluntary service. She also once had the honour of painting an award-winning portrait of Sir Winston Churchill.
