MR FWD SPINKS (DERRICK) (photo) Passed away on 9 October 2020 aged 97. Derrick never married or had children, but he was loved and well respected by many. There will be a small private family funeral. Derrick had a fulfilled life. He joined the RAF aged 19 and fought in WWII. On leaving the RAF he went to work in retail before joining his father and taking over the family business, Spinks and Son of Letchworth. There he remained until retirement when he then began his new life. He enjoyed spending his days swimming and playing golf. He loved to travel and had many adventures including an encounter with a silver back gorilla and a bungy jump at the age of 60! He also enjoyed being a member of the round table in Letchworth and made many friends. With a passion for the outdoors he would usually be found working in his or his sister Muriel’s garden.
