A Hertfordshire removal company is making a name for itself by helping Premier League footballers move house.

MET Removals, run by Michael, Ethan and Troy Morris, was founded in 2022, and operates in the Herts, London and Essex.

Despite being in operation for just two years, the business already has some big name clients, including Fulham defender Calvin Bassey, who they helped move house earlier this week.

They also took on the challenge of an international move, helping former Arsenal man Ainsley Maitland-Niles when he joined French side Lyon last summer.

"That one was a big shock because someone of Ainsley's stature has seen what we do and trusts us to move them internationally," said Michael.

"It was still a bit of a shock to hear from Calvin, but we’re kind of getting used to it now. We’re more equipped for it to, but it was still an amazing experience."

Handling the pressure of helping high-profile Premier League stars move can be tough, but Michael believes it's important to "go about your work in the right way".

"You absolutely feel the pressure when helping someone like that," he said.

"You want to make the right impression on someone like that, but I think that’s the wrong way to look at it. You’ve got to just do your thing and go about your work in the right way. That’s how I look at it.

"When we move these sorts of people, you realise they are normal people. Beforehand, you’re thinking to yourself, ‘oh, we’re moving Calvin Bassey today’, but they are just like you and it starts to feel like a normal job.

"Calvin was so humble and great to work with. He gave us a little shout out on his social media, and we’ve now got some other Premier League players following us which is always good."

Michael was also keen to emphasise the importance of doing a good job in "such a personal industry", and hopes positive reviews from the likes of Bassey and Maitland-Niles will help the business continue to grow.

"It’s such a personal industry. Moving someone’s things is one of the most personal things you can do," he said.

"If you do a good job, they won’t forget you. If someone helped you move and you were really happy with it, you’d tell other people about it and they would be their first port of call. That’s what we want."

MET's success comes from humble beginnings, having started out as the COVID-19 lockdowns were lifted in 2022.

"We were out of a job, and the only work that was really going was delivery driving," Michael admitted.

"People were also moving house quite a lot, and they were needing people with a van. We didn’t think much of it first, but we had a van so we gave it a go.

"We did our first job cheap as chips because we didn’t know the industry, but we just wanted to test things out. We really enjoyed it, so we started to take it seriously and that’s how the business started."
